Personal on Board: Mary & David
Comments: Clear with a light breeze (10 kts), hot and humid.  First use of the
wireless headsets between Mary and I – they work great.  Mary backed us out of
the slip perfectly – then we saw the railroad bridge closed.  Mary docked us
along another one of the docks.  We found the number for the bridge attendant
(he does not have a VHF radio), who we called and he opened the bridge for us to
pass.  We are finally on our way for a short vacation.

Comments:  After calling the bridge keeper, Mary took us through the bridge (her
first time) and is currently learning how to use the AutoPilot.  A Fountain race
boat #96 came by us doing at least 100mph – no wake at all.

off the boat, so we moved to another.  It was barely wide enough for Annabelle.
AC voltage is ~107vac.

Comments:  We tried to enter what we thought was Vandemere Creek (turns out it
was not) and ran aground 5 times.  The actual entrance to Vandemere Creek was to
starboard and apparently hidden by trees.  I am not convinced we could have
gotten Annabelle up there even if we knew where to go.  The navaids were not
very helpful.  We finally gave up and just anchored out in Bay River in front of
the town of Vandemere.  Town may be an exaggeration – more like a village.
There was one boat yard/marina we contacted for a slip – they did not have one.

mud).  It starting raining as we came in.  This is the weekend for the Oriental
Regatta – busy place.  The festivities are going on just in front of us on the
lawn.  Ran into Grady and Holly – former slip mates at Pecan Grove Marina.
